Cash prima e Dylan dopo hanno deciso di incontrarsi, di unire forze ed idee. Dylan è andato a Nashville ad incidere Blonde on Blonde, Cash invece ha scoperto, tra i primi, Dylan, interpretando le sue canzoni. In questo doppio (che contiene una versione inedita di If Not For You di Dylan, registrata assieme a Lloyd Green, ed altre chicche), oltre ai due maestri abbiamo canzoni di Byrds, Gordon Lightfoot, Flatt & Scruggs, Ian & Sylvia, John Hartford, Tracy Nelson, Kristofferson, Leonard Cohen, Simon & Garfunkel, Jerry Jeff Walker, Neil Young e di tutto un mondo che è gravitato attorno ai due grandi.
