Pensavamo che Life Journey, lo splendido disco uscito lo scorso anno, fosse il testamento musicale di Leon Russel. Invece ecco On A Distant Shore, il suo ultimo disco, completato nel 2016, poche settimane prima di lasciarsi per sempre. Un disco che è una sorta di sguardo alla sua carriera. Infatti Leon rilegge in modo vigoroso alcuni dei suoi classici (Hummingbird, A Song For You, This Masquerade), compone brani nuovi che riflettono al meglio la sua figura di autore. Un disco bello, magari non brillante come Life Journey, ma significativo.

Un disco leggendario, edito in origine dalla Shelter Records nel 1972. Unico disco di Willis Alan Ramsey, considerato un classico assoluto della canzone d'autore. Una sorta di anticipazione del sound Americana, registrato nei primi settanta, con canzoni che poi sono state riprese da Jimmy Buffett, America, e molti altri. Contiene brani come Northeast Texas Woman, Ballad of Spider John, Muskrat Candelight, Painted Lady.

Reed Streams were performed and recorded on November 4th and 5th 1966 in my studio, New York City.
"Untitled Organ" is a current section of the keyboard studies that were begun in San Francisco in 1964 and is recorded as performed.
"Dorian Reeds" is also a live direct recording but includes the use of tape recorders as an extension of live performance. It was composed and performed for this cutting.
