Daniel Lanois, produttore extraordinaire (Bob Dylan, U2, Neil Young, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, per citarne alcuni) è, sopratutto, un musicista. Autore, compositore, cantante. Un musicista completo, a 360 gradi. E lo dimostra a tutti gli effetti in questo disco dove usa la pedal steel guitar e lavora a stretto contatto con la lap steel di Rocco DeLuca. Un disco fuori da ogni schema che mischia folk e musica contemporanea, intuizioni sperimentali e ricerche sulla melodia. Un disco che trascende i generi musicali.
Storica band che rappresenta la grande tradizione musicale di New Orleans. Esistono da moltissimo tempo ed hanno cambiato i musicisti diverse volte. Ma lo spunto originario della band rimane sempre quello di preservare le tradizioni musicali della Crescent City. In questo nuovo album, i due leaders Ben Jaffe ( che è anche il produttore, assieme a Dave Sitek) e Charlie Gabriel, dopo un viaggio a Cuba, hanno deciso di unire le due culture e creare un suono che è molto influenzato dalla musica cubana, ma che mantiene comunque profonde radici in quello di New Orleans. Un cocktail intrigante che mischia antico e moderno.

Movin', l'album collaborativo di Selah Sue con il duo jazz belga The Gallands (Stéphane e Elvin Galland), fonde groove soul e raffinatezze jazz con temi riguardanto il superamento della depressione e la ricerca della luce. L'album presenta un songwriting intimo e riflessivo ed è caratterizzato da un suono "forte" e "vibrante" evidenziato dalla voce d'autore dell'artista.

The Billboard p. 42: "Oscar Pettiford heads a jazz sextet which has begun a tour of Army camps fot the USO. The unit is known as the "Swingin' Jamboree" and along with Pettiford includes trumpeter Howard McGhee, tramist Jay Johnson, drummer Charlie Rice, tenorist Budd Johnson and guitarist Clifton Best."
The USO unit was put together by Pettiford. It debuted at shows in New Jersey and at Pine Camp in northern New York state. They went overseas on Nov. 3 after playing a number of USO dates at camps across the United States. Then they went to Korea, Japan, and Southern Pacific islands. However, this group encountered internal problems that resulted in Pettiford leaving the tour early to return to the United States. Cf. Ralph Gleason's article in Down Beat (February 22, 1952). - "It was cold like something else," Rice said of Korea. "We'd be playing for five minutes, and the guys' lips would freeze to the mouthpieces."
