Torna la sophisticated lady con un bel disco, elegante e raffinato, costruito come omaggio a Frank Sinatra e Stan Getz. Infatti Diane interpreta brani che i due grandi avevano già registrato nel corso della loro carriera. La accompagna una stellare band diretta da Alan Broadbent, che vede la partecipazione di Ben Wolfe, Ulysses Owens, Jr., Romero Lubambo e Joel Frahm.
Con il quinto disco per la Savant il tenor sassofonista di colore amplia i suoi orizzonti, porrtando la sua band (Gregg August e Rudy Royston), in ambito blues. Le sue aperture tra jazz e blues sono decisamente innovative ed interessanti, sopratutto in brani quali Cotton, Sugar Free, Lillie Mae Jones, Americana etc. Un disco che si stacca decisamente dal resto della produzione attuale.
Chanteuse sofisticata, musicista di classe, performer di grande spessore, Madeleine Peyroux esce dal suo seminato con un disco diverso, coraggioso ma decisamenter godibile. Un disco in trio, con il chitarrista degli Steely Dan ed un bassista. Due strumenti e la sua voce. Il resto lo fanno le canzoni, covers per lo più. Madeleine interpreta da par suo brani di Eric Clapton, Townes Van Zandt, Tom Waits, Willie Dixon, Stephen Foster, Alen Toussaint, Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Tutto da scoprire.

Nuovo lavoro per Brian Blade and The Fellowship Band: con Jon Cowheard, Chris Thomas, Melvin Butler, Dave Devine, Myron Walden. Già autori dell'eccellente Landmarks, Blade e la sua band continuano un percorso jazz intrigante, uscedo spesso da schemi prefissati per creare suoni decisamente innovativi.
