Bob Cheevers, sconosciuto ai più, è un rooots rocker texano che, dalle sue parti, ha già un certo nome. Ha diversi dischi al suo attivo, sembra una decina, ed a produrlo questa volta è stato Stephen Doster, già alla consolle per gente come Lyle Lovett o Nanci Griffith. Cheevers mischia i suoni del Texas con radici blues ed influenze soul.

Band country rock originaria del Minnesota, già al terzo disco. Grazie ad una serie da date, anno per anno, ed ai due precedenti dischi,gli Home Free si sono costruiti un solido fan base. Country elettrico, ritmo e melodia, che i fratelli Chris e Adam Rupp hanno perfezionato anno dopo anno. Ora sono abbastanza noti, nei circuiti che contano e, considerando il fatto che fanno del country e non del country pop, questo è un fatto molto interessante. A dimostrare la loro crescita a livello di fama, ci sono anche gli ospiti che appaiono nel disco: Charlie Daniels, The Oak Ridge Boys e Taylor Davis.
Brandy Clark arriva dall'altra parte di Nashville, non da quella più commerciale. Prima di tutto scrive canzoni poi, visto che è brava, si è messa anche ad incidere. Lo scorso anno ha visto il suo primo album, 12 Stories, ripubblicato dalla Warner, dopo che era stato un buon successo a livello indie. Big Day in a Small Town si serve della produzione di Jay Joyse, una produzione adulta. Ed il disco esce dai canoni della musica già sentita, per offrire nuove emozioni, una manciata dai canzoni di indubbio spessore ed una voce decisamente interessante.
Nuova band di Americana e new grass, formata da Dave Simonett, già leader dei Trampled by Turtles. In realtà ci sono altri due membri dei Trampled nella formazione (Ryan Young e Tim Saxhaug ), mentre il suono vira di più al rock. Un interessante sviluppo nel suono di uno dei gruppi più interessanti, che sono venuti alla luce negli ultimi due anni.
Gli Old Dogs sono un super gruppo Country, esistito per un breve periodo, solo due dischi, alla fine degli anni novanta ( 1998). Una sorta di risposta agli Highwaymen di Cash, Nelson, Jennings e Kristofferson. E l'idea è venuta a Bobby Bare ( assieme a Shel Silverstein), con il consenso di Waylon Jennings, già presente negli Highwaymen. Per il puro piacere Bobby Bare ha messo assieme alcuni pezzi da novanta, come Mel Tillis, Waylon Jennings e Jerry Reed, ed ha dato vita agli Old Dogs. Solo due dischi, entrambi nel 1998: Old Dogs ed Old Dogs Volume Two. Eccoli, finalmente, di nuovo tra noi. Le canzoni, 21, sono state scritte da Shel Silverstein.
Nuovo album per gli Home Free, 5 men country acappella band. Un disco per sole voci, in classico stile acappella, che in America sta riscuotendo un buon successo.
Countryman vero, Frank Foster è uno che non si tira indietro.
La sua musica, real country, ha ormai conquistato un mucchio di fans. Come conferma questo nuovo lavoro, sempre autogestito, sempre di qualità alta.
