Secondo album per la esuberante band di Detroit. I Deadstring mischiano rock e psichedelia, country e soul e riescono fare coabitare fiati stile Stax con la steel guitar. Interessanti.
A 73 anni compiuti, Brown è uno dei grandi vecchi del blues. Long Time Comin', registrato nel 2002 ma pubblicato solo ora, conferma il sul stato di bluesman di vaglia. Il disco suona fresco e diretto e mischia soul e blues e Brown conferma tutto il suo carattere.

2 CD. E' raro che un disco con trenta anni sulle spalle venga celebrato come una novità di grande importanza. Ma questo accade all'album di Dennis Wilson, batterista dei Beach Boys ma sopratutto cantautore triste ed interiore. Pacific Ocean Blue nel corso degli anni è diventato un formidabile cult album, tanto che la Sony lo celebra con una versione doppia che, oltre al mitico album, contiene l'inedito Bambu ed altre canzoni.
Colonna sonora del film omonimo diretto da Denzel Washington. Ma anche un disco totalmente nuovo per Alvin Youngblood Hart. Carolina Chocolate Drops e Sharon Jones, Tra blues e gospel, richiama le sonorità degli anni trenta. 17 canzoni rigorose e molto legate alla tradizione più pura del blues delle origini.
Intrigante esordio adulto per un cantautore del Nebraska. Una terra triste ed oscura, che James riflette nelle sue ballate introspettive, personali e intense. Un disco da vero cantautore che ci rivela un'anima gentile ed un musisista di grande spessore.

Superband tra funk e jazz, capitanata da David Krakauer e Fred Wesley, con il supporto del pianista Socalled, specializzato in sampling. Vengono campionate le voci di Alicia Krakauer, C Rayz Walz ed altri. La band è supportata dalle chitarre di Allen Watsky e Sheyl Bailey, quindi da fiati e sezione ritmica ricca.
