2 LP. C'era attesa, e come se ce ne era. Dylan aveva già reso pubbliche tre canzoni, dalla splendida Murder Must Foul (16.54), una canzone che, da sola, vale il disco. Alle già note I Contains Multitudes e False Prophet. Il disco, che arriva otto anni dopo Tempest, ci riporta il Dylan autore, maturo e profondo, critico nei confronti della società, dubbioso sul futuro. Come dimostrano le altre canzoni, da Goodbye Jimmy Reed a Black Rider, Key West, My Own Version of You, I've Made Up My Mind to Give Myself to You, Mother of Muses, Armageddon. Dopo i tre dischi dedicati a Sinatra, pensavamo che Dylan non avesse più voglia di fare Dylan. Errore, La voglia c'è, eccome, ed il disco è di una bellezza e di una potenza inusitate.
