Già membro dei Nickel Creek ( assieme alla sorella Sarah ed a Chris Thile ), Sean Watkins non è poi stato molto prolifico come solista. Solo quattro dischi sparsi nel tempo, prima di questo nuovo lavoro che lo porta più verso la canzone d'autore, la descrizione del momento che stiamo vivendo. Watkins dipinge la società americana con canzoni pungenti e, al tempo stesso, usa una backing band di indubbio spessore per dare al suono una forma rafffinata e personale. Un disco di indubbia qualità.
