War on Drugs ormai sono un marchio consolidato, una band che si è creata un suono ed uno spazio nel marcato e che lo ha confermato, disco dopo disco. Sono una band un pò mainstream, con sonorità anni ottanta, ma la creatività di Adam Graduciel è in continua evoluzione, come dimostra questo nuovo lavoro. Rock, godibile e vecchio stampo, fatto ormai abbastanza raro nelle band classic rock.

L'album del 2000 della band roots rock di San Francisco è una fusione di blues grintoso con influenze folk e country, sorretto dal lavoro di chitarra di Halford capace di crearo paesaggi sonori che sembrano sia personali che universali.

Il 78esimo album del grande countryman texano è una nuova (la quarta in carriera) rivisitazione del materiale di Merle Haggard, un disco in cui ancora una volta Willie Nelson dimostra quanto la sua musica si sia trasformata in un genere a sè. In queste canzoni a tal punto riconoscibile da rendere omaggio all'amico non adottandone lo stile, meglio noto come Bakersfield Sound, ma facendone confluire le caratteristiche all'interno del proprio stile. Una meraviglia.
