Conosciuto per l'hit Hey Baby, il texano Bruce Channel è uno dei precorritori del sound texano tra rock, blues e radici. Come conferma questo album, introvabile da lungo tempo, in cui Channel incide per la prima volta alcune canzoni che aveva dato ad altri, come la popolare Stand Up.
Cole era uno dei grandi chitarristi surf, secondo solo a Dick Dale. Questo CD raccoglie due classici: Guitars a GoGo vol 1 e 2, più 4 brani aggiunti.
I due Lp pubblicati come solista negli anni cinquanta: Tony Perkins, 1957, e On A Rainy Afternoon, 1958. Registrati con l'orchestra diretta da Martin Paich. Perkins era un noto attore, famoso per l'interpretazione in Psycho di Hitchcock.
Elvis le ha sentite per la prima volta in queste versioni. Le edizioni originali di alcune canzoni poi interpretate dal re del rock and roll. Canzoni di Bobby Darin, Charlie Rich, Brenda Lee, Rick Nelson, Ray Peterson, Carl Mann, Jerry Reed, Bob Dylan, T-Bone Walker, Tony Joe White etc.
Considerato uno dei migliori scrittori di rock ballads dell'epoca attuale, Mraz è già stato baciato dal successo. I suoi precedenti album hanno avuto buone vendite anche nella vecchia Europa. Love is a Four Letter Word non si distacca dal suo standard rock, chitarre e percussioni, con Mraz che tiene bene la scena, accompagnato dal blasonato percussionista Noel "Toca" Rivera.
