Registrazione inedita della band progressive folk-rock, effettuata negli storici studios di Los Angeles DeLane Lea, nel 1973. La band di Annie Haslam si diverte ad eseguire l'album Ashes Are Burning, ed altre piccole leccornie, in completa libertà e di fronte ad un piccolo gruppo di appassionati. Partecipano alle sessione il cantautore Al Stewart ed Andy Powell dei Wishbone Ash.

Jerry Garcia era dentro alle tradizioni della musica Americana come pochi altri suoi contemporanei. Il box contiene una session informale con Robert Hunter, registrata nel 1961, ma anche dei concerti con band folk e bluegrass, registrati nel 1964 nelle coffee houses della bay area. Tra le canzoni eseguite, più di 80, ci sono classici come Cripple Creek, Handsome Molly, Sally Goodin, Shady Grove, Oh Mary Don't You Weep, Jesse James, Long Lonesome Road, Roving Gambler, Pig in A Pen, Roll in My Sweet Baby's Arms, Mule Skinner Blues, Deep Elem Blues, Long Black Veil, Rosa Lee McFall e moltissime altre.
