A 82 anni compiuti, Willie Nelson non ha ancora voglia di smettere. Per niente. Questa volta però fa un disco diverso, un disco che appartiene al filone sofisticato, influenzato dal blues e dal jazz, filone a cui appartengono dischi come American Classic, Two Men With The Blues e Stardust. Infatti in questo album il texano interpreta il classico songbook Americano, le canzoni di George & Ira Gershwin, e lo fa con classe ed un grande suono. La produzione è di Buddy Cannon e, dietro al nostro, c'è il formidabile pianista Matt Rollings ( già con Lyle Lovett ). Ascoltate classici come Summertime, I Got Rhythm, Someone to Watch Over Me etc. Grande, grandissima musica. Edizione limitata in digipack, stampa Usa.
Teatro, prodotto da Daniel Lanois, è considerato uno dei dischi più belli di Willie Nelson, Uno dei suoi capolavori. Inciso in un vecchio teatro, sito ad Oxnard in California, il disco vede Nelson lavorare con sonorità diverse che mischiano la sua incredible vena d'autore, con le idee ed i suoni di Daniel Lanois. Un disco straordinario che ora viene ripubblicato in vinile, per celebrare il 25° anniversario della pubblicazione originale. Vinile 180 grammi, stampato in Usa.
Interpretare Frank Sinatra sta diventando un banco di prova per i grandi interpreti Americani attuali. Dylan ha già fatto tre dischi, facendo storcere il naso a molti fans, Willie Nelson invece lo fa per la prima volta. Ma se Dylan era una sorta di neofita nei confronti di Sinatra, Nelson ha una tradizione ben più lunga, nel rileggere il grande Songbook Americano. Basta pensare a Stardust, oppure al recente tributo a Gershwin (Summertime), senza dimenticare American Classic o Here We Go Again (dedicato a Ray Charles). Con la produzione di Buddy Cannon ed il supporto di Matt Rollings, Nelson interpreta dieci classici di Frank Sinatra in modo sublime. Edito originariamente nel 1967, questo album ci presenta Willie Nelson interprete, parecchi anni prima di Red Headed Stranger, il disco che lo ha rivelato al mondo intero. Qui Willie, con la produzione di Chet Atkins e Felton Jarvis ( Elvis Presley), interpreta brani rock e country, tra cui Born to Lose, What Now My Love, A Mansion on The Hill, Have I Told You Lately That I Love You, One in A Row, Make Way For A Better Man. Fuori catalogo da più di 40 anni, il disco è stato ristampato dalla Friday Music. Edizione super lusso, vinile 180 grammi, TRANSLUCENT BLUE Vinyl.
