C'era molta curiosità, oltre che molta attesa, per il ritorno di Jackson Browne. Il nuovo album. che arriva sei anni dopo Time The Conqueror, è tra le cose migliori del cantautore californiano. Un disco di solide ballate elettriche, con una super band alle spalle in cui si notano le chitarre di Greg Leizs e Val McCallum, suonato in modo splendido. Browne torna a comporre grandi canzoni: brani come Birds of St Marks, You Know The Night, Yeah Yeah e Leaving Winslow sono destinati a lasciare il segno.
2 LP. Era dal 2008, da That Lucky Old Sun, che Brian Wilson, unico leader dei Beach Boys, non faceva un disco nuovo. E' vero, nel 2012 c'era stata la reunion della band ( That's Why God Made The Radio ) ma, a parte questo disco, Brian era inattivo da anni. No Pier Pressure è un album molto classico ( c'è solo un brano che stacca), con il nostro alle prese con del materiale molto Beach Boys Style. Armonie vocali superbe, una manciata di canzoni di indubbio spessore e la partecipazione di Nate Ruess, She & Him, Kacey Musgraves, Al Jardine, Blondie Chaplin, David Marks e Mark Isham.
