il 22 dicembre 2006 e` stato firmato il "manifesto di autoregolamentazione della moda italiana contro l`anoressia": un impegno congiunto tra governo e mondo della moda per una parziale ma significativa azione di contrasto a malattie come l`anoressia e la bulimia, sempre piu` diffuse tra le giovani generazioni. l`autrice, impegnata nella guida del nuovo ministero per le politiche giovanili, ripercorre la genesi di questo esperimento di responsabilita` politica e sociale, intrapreso per contrastare malattie che colpiscono, in nove casi su dieci, soprattutto le donne. partendo dai dati della ricerca clinica, che vede nei modelli socioculturali uno dei fattori implicati nella crescente diffusione dei disturbi alimentari, la sfida delle politiche giovanili ha puntato sulla collaborazione tra diverse forze sociali - le istituzioni, la comunita` scientifica e la moda - fino a raggiungere il risultato di una vera e propria "carta dei valori" che vincola la moda nazionale a un impegno senza precedenti, con lo scopo di tracciare un confine netto tra corpo magro e corpo malato. il libro illustra la valenza simbolica e gli impegni concreti contenuti nel manifesto, evidenziando l`urgenza di una prevenzione fondata sull`ascolto, sulla responsabilita` sociale e sulla promozione di modelli culturali positivi. dal corpo "cucito" nell`icona della magrezza, dunque, verso un`autostima dei giovani fondata sulla valorizzazione della propria bellezza individuale.

la piccola magda e` spettatrice di una delle pagine piu` intense della seconda guerra mondiale. dopo la sconfitta dell`esercito tedesco, con l`arrivo dell`esercito russo la sua famiglia viene deportata in siberia. fortunosamente sfuggita al rastrellamento, la piccola viene "adottata" da un gruppo di partigiani di cui fa parte il suo maestro di scuola e ne diventa, anche grazie alla sua passione per la vita e gli usi degli indiani d`america, la piccola eroina. affronta cosi` le sue paure piu` profonde, il dolore della perdita e la nostalgia di casa, imparando a prendersi cura di se` stessa e dei suoi compagni. la sua storia di coraggio e resilienza, e` ispirata ai racconti su una ragazza che visse effettivamente per qualche tempo in un rifugio con i combattenti. eta` di lettura: da 7 anni.
uno spaccato del disagio giovanile visto attraverso gli occhi di chi gli adolescenti li conosce e li assiste da molti anni. una bussola per orientarsi nel complesso "mare dell?adolescenza", favorendo la comprensione degli aspetti fisiologici della crisi e il riconoscimento delle manifestazioni che potrebbero rappresentare un campanello d?allarme rispetto all?esordio di una possibile psicopatologia.
