il 24 dicembre 1828 carlo felice "per grazia di dio re di sardegna, di cipro e gerusalemme" decreta la costituzione di "un nuovo reggimento di dragoni... il quale portera` il nome di "dragoni di piemonte"". e l`atto di nascita del piu` decorato reggimento di cavalleria italiano, la cui storia e` stata ricostruita in questo libro attraverso documenti d`archivio e testimonianze. dalle guerre di indipendenza alla campagna di libia e poi ai fronti della grande guerra (i lancieri combatterono nell`epica battaglia di pozzuolo del friuli e a vittorio veneto) per arrivare fino alla campagna di russia, nel secondo conflitto mondiale. nel dopoguerra questo reggimento venne trasformato in unita` corazzata.
