Jason Ringenberg firma un bel disco di country rurale dedicato ai p'iù piccoli.

Nuovo album per la roots band di Detroit, una delle più longeve e creative del genere Americana. L'album raccoglie covers poco usuali (gli Abba riletti in chiave roots ad esempio) più brani nuovi del gruppo di Matthew Smith.

JW è un talento e questo suo secondo album di blues elettrico ne è la conferma.

Esordio come solista di Anjani Thomas, da molti anni compagna (in sala di registrazione) di Leonard Cohen. Anjani interpreta dieci canzoni scritte assieme al poeta canadese.

Tra blues, folk e rock. Kalu James è una via di mezzo tra Ben Harper, Ray Lamontagne e Amos Lee. puo` un`opera d`arte, per quanto misteriosa e difficile da decifrare, attrarre con forza disorientante l`anima delle persone, travolgendola fino allo stordimento? un dipinto che raffigura un cavaliere e una strana coppia di sposi sullo sfondo di una campagna minacciata dall`alta marea, esercita proprio questa inspiegabile attrazione sui personaggi che vi ruotano intorno. di quest`opera alquanto singolare, il cui titolo - la sposa della morte - non aiuta a rivelare l`enigmatico significato, si conosce solo il nome dell`autore, un certo markus eberden, vissuto per qualche tempo in un convento a lonely island, nelle regioni delle maree, a sud della gran bretagna. la storia si svolge in un presente non definito poiche` il passato torna a rivivere in esso, e i destini sembrano sovrapporsi come in un allucinato de`ja` vu. le voci dei personaggi narranti - i cui nomi sono non a caso anagrammi l`uno dell`altro (eros-rose, nevile-evelyne, delio-odile) - si alternano nel tempo che passa, raccontando la loro esperienza, il proprio punto di vista, confondendosi con l`alzarsi e l`abbassarsi della marea, in un ritmo incessante, come quello della vita e della morte. a ricomporsi infine con implacabile simmetria nel vortice delle corrispondenze karmiche e` un mosaico talmente perfetto da riproporre un nuovo insondabile enigma.

Le canzoni sono note, ma queste versioni no. Brillano Going Down Slow (più di 7 minuti), Early in The Morning, Sweet Little Angel, Bad Case of Love, Shut Your Mouth, Catfish Blues, Soul Beat, Partin' Time, Whole Lotta Meat etc.

Terzo volume di una serie di grande successe: i due precedenti (Legendary Broadcasts 1985 - 1993 & Legendary Broadcasts 1969 - 1984) rimangono tra i best seller del catalogo alternativo di Dylan. Questo volume raccoglie, in ordine cronologico, apparizioni televisive e radiofoniche di Dylan a partire dal Luglio 1961, sino al Marzo 1964. Tutte rare ed interessanti. Ad esempio, Quest (Marzo 1964), contiene Talkin' World War III Blues, The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll, A Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall, Girl from The North Country e Restless Farewell.

36 CD. Splendido cofanetto che presenta il tour mondiale di Bob Dylan & The Hawks (cioè The Band) nel 1966. La tournèe che ha cambiato le regole nel mondo del rock, passando da acustico ad elettrico. La registrazione è profesisonale, curata dallo stesso Dylan o dalla Columbia, con l'eccezione di 5 concerti che sono audience tapes. I concerti erano acustici nella prima parte ed elettrici nella seconda. Interessante anche vedere l'evoluzione del musicista e la sempre maggiore sicurezza della band, data dopo data. Questi concerti hanno cambiato il corso della musica rock, Adesso possiamo capire come. Il cofanetto è corredato da un libretto. Di nuovo disponibile !!!!

2 LP. C'era attesa, e come se ce ne era. Dylan aveva già reso pubbliche tre canzoni, dalla splendida Murder Must Foul (16.54), una canzone che, da sola, vale il disco. Alle già note I Contains Multitudes e False Prophet. Il disco, che arriva otto anni dopo Tempest, ci riporta il Dylan autore, maturo e profondo, critico nei confronti della società, dubbioso sul futuro. Come dimostrano le altre canzoni, da Goodbye Jimmy Reed a Black Rider, Key West, My Own Version of You, I've Made Up My Mind to Give Myself to You, Mother of Muses, Armageddon. Dopo i tre dischi dedicati a Sinatra, pensavamo che Dylan non avesse più voglia di fare Dylan. Errore, La voglia c'è, eccome, ed il disco è di una bellezza e di una potenza inusitate.

Questo disco, inciso negli anni ottanta, poi dimenticato completamente, vede finalmente la luce. Si tratta di una session con Jeffrey Lee Pierce alla voce ( Gun Club ), aiutato da musicisti disparati come Dave Alvin, Jack Waterson, Chris D ( produttore della session), Gene Taylor e Bill Bateman ( entrambi Blasters), Kid Congo Powers. Un disco folle, arrabbiato, sopra le righe, con session sregolate e sguaiate, ma indubbiamente intriganti. Dai quasi venti minuti di Waklkin' Down The Streets Doin' My Thing, alla rilettura di Not Supposed To Be That Way, più di cieci minuti. A Bad Moon Rising ( Creedence ) e Shake Rattle and Roll. Fuori da ogni catalogazione.

Oscar Peterson canta. Un disco dove, al contrario del solisto, il pianista diventa cantante. Decisamente originale.

Early James è un giovane cantante che arriva dal sud, da quello profondo. Early è originario di Birmingham, Alabama, ed il suo amore per la musica va di pari passo con una vace forte, espressiva ed intensa. Non è un caso di James abbia firmato per la Easy Eye Sound, l'etichetta di proprietà di Dan Auerbach. Etichetta che sta diventando un punto riferimento, dopo avere messo sotto contratto musicisti di grande spessore come Jimmy Duck Holmes, Yola, Leo Bud Welch, Robert Finley, Kendell Marvel, tra gli altri. Prodotto dallo stesso Auebach, il disco contkene brnai blues, soul oroented, ed anche rock, con una tendenza verso il southern gothic e scrittori come William Faulkner ed Eudora Welty. Registrazione inedita per il trio di Oscar Peterson, incisa a Zurigo nel 1971. Serata da ricordare con Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen al basso e Louis Hayes alla batteria.

Il box contiene le session di Time Out Of Mind, fatte tra il 1996 ed il 1997, prodotte da Daniel Lanois, Time Out Of Mind ha avuto ben tre Grammy Awards ed è considerato uno dei capolavori di Dylan, tra i suoi dischi migliori in assoluto. Tra i brani che appaiono nel disco ricordiamo: Make You Feel My Love, divenuto un classico, grazie anche alla versione di Billy Joel, quindi Can't Wait, Tryin' To Get To Heaven, Not Dark Yet. La versione in vinile, 4 LP, presenta la costruzione del disco aggiungendo il nuovo missaggio di Michael H. Brauer che leva alcuni dei suoni creati da Lanois, quindi due album pieni di outtakes e versioni alternate, tra cui anche le prove del disco, incise nel 1996 ad Oxnard da una band con Bob Dylan, Daniel Lanois, Tony Garnier e Tony Mangurian.

#1-25, 1-26 released as US single Motown 1087, November 1965; also issued as UK single Tamla-Motown TMG 544, January, 1966.

#2-1 to 2-13. Each of these tracks, except #2-10, is from sessions in which only Smokey Robinson compositions were recorded. However, there is no record indicating there was an LP with the title, 'Barbara Sings Smokey'. It is used here for descriptive purposes only.

Il vibrafonista americano Dave Pike è salito alla ribalta negli anni ’60 grazie alla collaborazione con il famoso flautista jazz Herbie Mann, con cui ha registrato 11 album, oltre ad aver suonato con i leggendari pianisti Bill Evans e Paul Bley. Dopo il trasferimento in Europa, il Dave Pike Set ha riscosso un successo immediato grazie alla combinazione tra il vibrafono di Pike e la chitarra elettrica e acustica e il sitar del musicista tedesco Volker Kriegel. Le composizioni di Kriegel hanno contribuito a creare il sound unico del quartetto, che abbraccia jazz, funk, psichedelia, avanguardia ed etno.
