Dopo due grandi dischi come Childish Things e Just us Kids, il texano McMurtry sbarca in Europa e si fa registrare al Paradiso di Amsterdam, uno dei locali storici della nostra musica. Con Ian McLagan, Darren Hess, Tim Holt e Robbie Johnson nella band. Solido rock con venature roots, tanto Texas ed una manciata di canzoni superbe. Copia non sigillata.
Cass McCombs è uno dei musicisti più promettenti della nuova scena statunitense. Tra rock, folk, Americana. McCombs è un cantautore, un autore,ma anche un rocker. Ma lo conoscono in pochi. Così il nostro ha messo assieme questa particolare antologia (19 canzoni), per fare capire chi è e cosa fa. Ed il disco è decisamente interessante. Inoltre metà dei brani sono inediti, giusto per dare un contentino a chi già lo conosce e lo apprezza.
LP. Outta Sight, che arriva dopo un certo silenzio della band canadsese, è ben al di sopra delle attese: è un disco americano a tutti gli effetti, anzi un album di southern rock, potente e chitarristico. Ci sono canzoni come Here I Am e Find The Truth, che sembrano arrivare direttamente dagli anni settanta, chitarre degne dei Lynyrd Skynyrd ed harmony vocals che rammentano Crosby Stills Nash & Young. Sheepdogs sono sempre stati sotto i nostri occhi e sono cresciuti, lentamente, ma sono cresciuti, come dimostra Outta Sight. Ci sono anche delle jam strumentali che danno ragione agli estimatori della band. Al giorno d'oggi ci sono ben poche band che hanno il suono dei Sheepdogs. Copertina apribile, vinile 180 grammi, stampa Canada. Qualità audio eccellente.
'Tinker' is a collaboration between the Keneipp family and myself and features a bunch of Athens fellows singing and playing various instruments. Musically it sports piano torture, high r.p.m., two-stroke guitars, kitchen tools and a flippin' clarinet for cryin' out loud! Lyrically, you've got poked-faced serial killers, spoiled southern belles, stoned teenage nostalgia, a love song to sweets, and much, much, more.
It was recorded on 8 track digital in a swift fashion which is the way we do things if left to our own devices (and budgets).
This isn't for everyone, but if you've bothered to find this website, it may be for you.
