Il pianista Gerald Clayton è al suo debutto su Blue Note, con Happening: Live At The Village Vanguard. Il pianista si esibisce nello storico locale newyorkese con la sua eccellente band (il tenor sax Walter Smith III, il bassista Joe Sanders, il batterista Marcus Gilmore) e ci consegna una performance dinamica di grande forza espressiva. Il repetorio presenta quattro brani originali di Clayton, uno di Billy Strayhorn ( Take the Coltrane ) E si chiude con una versione di Celia, di Bud Powell, ed una potente rilettura di Body and Soul.
