Uno degli uomini più influenti del jazz, Norman Granz non era nemmeno un musicista. Tuttavia, questo impresario famoso ha offerto l'opportunità a molti artisti jazz di eseguire preziose performance e di elevare il profilo pubblico di molti che lo hanno conosciuto. Presentato su cinque dischi, queste Jam Session - che sono state programmate e supervisionate personalmente da Granz - sono caratterizzate dalla presenza di alcuni dei migliori musicisti jazz del 1950.
