Edito dalla Verve, questo è uno dei dischi di jazz più interessanti ed originali usciti ultimamente. La cantante pakistana Arooj Aftab guida un gruppo in cui suona il pianista Vijay Iyer. Il disco mischia sonorità jazz con musica etinica ed avanguardia, in un cocktail sonoro coinvolgente ed innovativo. Consigliatissimo dalla critica Usa, Night Reign è qualche cosa di diverso. Da ascoltare senza pregiudizi di sorta.
L'orchestra diretta da Gil Evans rilegge alcuni itra i brani più famosi di Jimi Hendrix come Angel, Crosstown Traffic, Voodoo Chile, Castles Made of Sand e molti altri con una perfetta fusione di rock e jazz.
Eccellente nuovo album del batterista, con Bill Frisell e Joe Lovano.

Il nuovo album della Sun Ra Arkestra, il primo da 20 anni a questa parte. La band, sotto la direzione di Marshall Allen, e con membri di lunga data come Danny Ray Thompson (RIP), Michael Ray, Vincent Chancey, Knoel Scott, Cecil Brooks, Atakatune (RIP), Elson Nascimento e Tyler Mitchell ( due sono deceduti nel corso delle registrazioni ), torna a fare grande musica. Il disco contiene nuove versioni di standard quali Angels and Demons at play, Seductive Fantasy e Rocket n. 9. Oltre a del materiale nuovo molto interessante.
Le outtakes di Time Out, lo storico album che ha reso celebre Dave Brubeck, quello con il classico Take Five. La formazione è quella arcinota con Paul Desmond, Joe Morello e Eugene Wright. Tra i brani compresi nel CD, abbiamo versioni inedite di Take Five, Blue Rondo A La Turk, Watusi Jam, Cathy's Waltz e Three To Get Ready. Vinile 180 grammi, stampa Usa, edizione molto limitata.

4 CD. Finalmente disponibili nella loro entità i due concerti di Albert Ayler, che il jazzista diede alla Fondations Maeght di Saint - Paul - de- Vence nel 1970. Concerti mitizzati da sempre, ma introvabili. Finalmente grazie alla Elemental Music di Zev Feldman, abbiamo la possibilità di sentire quelle due serate memorabili. Albert Ayler, tenor sax, aveva suonato con Mary Maria Parks, sax soprano e voce, Steve Tintweiss, basso, Allen Blairman, batteria. Reperibilità difficoltosa.
