Basterebbe il confronto tra la giovane età dell'artista (24 anni) e il prestigio dell'etichetta discografica per cui esce il suo debutto The Long Way Round, per intuire che la cantautrice e chitarrista londinese Maya Delilah è un personaggio straordinario: una sensazione confermata dall'ascolto delle 12 tracce con cui si presenta, brani che testimoniano di svariate influenze filtrate da una personalità davvero creativa. "Questo disco è una combinazione di così tante parti di me...sono influenzata da generi, persone, luoghi e esperienze diverse tanto che è sempre difficile far rientrare la mia musica in un suono o uno stato d'animo specifici" dichiara la fanciulla e infatti il disco è piuttosto vario con momenti di intimità e di incredibile profondità che possono ricordare le ballate soffici di Norah Jones e altri di leggerezza e musicalità che fanno venire in mente piuttosto la verve della fusion senza contare pezzi di bravura in cui la giovane dimostra un tocco notevole alla chitarra. Decisamente un nome da tenere d'occhio.

Ride Into The Sun è un album che presenta le rivisitazioni di 6 brani dello sfortunato Elliott Smith, nuove composizioni di Mehldau ispirate dal cantautore da Omaha, e le cover di "Thirteen" dei Big Star e di "Sunday" di Nick Drake. Tra i musicisti coinvolti figurano il cantante/chitarrista Daniel Rossen (Grizzly Bear); il cantante/mandolinista Chris Thile (Punch Brothers, Nickel Creek); i bassisti Felix Moseholm e John Davis (che ha anche curato la progettazione e il mixaggio) e il batterista Matt Chamberlain (Fiona Apple, Tori Amos), più un'orchestra da camera guidata da Dan Coleman. Un disco molto ispirato, con un Mehldau in grande stato di forma e un gruppo di comprimari di altissimo livello.
Uno dei migliori sassofonisti emergenti del momento, con Matt Wilson, Jamie Saft e Buster Williams.

Pianista atipica, Renee Rosnes è una da tenere d'occhio. In questo nuovo lavoro presenta una incredible suite, The Galapagos Suite, che occupa quasi tutto il CD ( Ben 7 brani per un totale di quasi 45 minuti). La accompagnano per l'occasione Peter Washington, Steve Nelson, Bill Stewart.
Album condiviso con Woody Shaw con in formazione Kenny Garrett al sassofono e al flauto, Mulgrew Miller al piano, Cecil McBee al basso e Carl Allen alla batteria. Il primo disco condiviso dai due trombettisti americani.
