2 CD. Nel 1978, con la loro migliore formazione a trio a ( Randy California, Larry 'Fuzzy' Knight ed Ed Cassidy ) gli Spirit hanno tenuto una serie di concerti in Europa. Il più famoso è stato certamente quello fatto al Rainbow Theatre, a Londra, che, per problemi tecnici, non è stato mai pubblicato. Ma, recentemente, l'archivista della band Mick Skidmore ha trovato un master inedito, tratto dal mixer del locale londinese e così ci troviamo tra le mani l'intera performance, giustamente ritenuta tra le migliori della band Americana.Gli Spirit eseguono alla grande classici del loro repertorio, ma anche covers, da Animal Zoo a Hey Joe, Mr. Skin, I Got A Line on You, Like A Rolling Stone, 1984, Nature's Way, All Along The Watchtower, Stone Free, Wild Thing ed altre ancora. Fianlmente questo straordinario show è tra le nostre mani. Skidmore ha poi aggiunto nove tracce, tratte da Live Spirit, edito nel 1979, rimasterizzate. Il libretto contiene foto inedite, un saggio di Skidmore ed anche un pezzo scritto dal bassista della band, Larry Knight. Eccellente riedizione Esoteric UK.

Capodanno 1967, i Quicksilver sono gli headliner di una serata difficile da dimenticare, registrata nel mitico Winterland di San Francisco. John Cipollina e Gary Duncan sono al top, ma anche il resto della band gira a mille, forte di un repertorio assodato, in cui non mancano brani rari come If You Live ( Your Time Will Come ) e It's Been Too Long. Ci sono i classici: da Who do You Love a Mona, qui in medley con Maiden of The Cancer Moon, Back Door Man ( straordinaria versione psychedelic blues), Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, Pride of Man. C'è anche un misterioso strumentale, tanto per rendere il piatto più ricco. Incisione ottima, il concerto arriva dagli archivi dello stesso Duncan.

Nel lontano Settembre del 1961, diverso tempo prima di firmare per la Capitol, i cinque Beach Boys hanno registrato queste prove a casa di Hite e Dorinda Morgan. Si tratta di prove con brani appena abbozzati, false partenze, versioni senza voce, demos, demos riveduti, sino ai master definitivi. Sessantatre canzoni in totale che però sono poi solo nove, presentate ognuna in diverse versioni. Canzoni diventate poi famose come Surfin, Surfin Safari, Surfer Girl oppure rimaste decisamente oscure come Lavender, Barbie, Judy, Luau, Beach Boys Stomp e What Is A Young Girl Made Of. Splendido oggetto della Omnivore, con note approfondite ed una masterizzazione perfetta. Più di 40 versioni sono inedite !

Ma anche canzoni tratte da Fantasy, come Believe in Humanity e Corazón e molte altre ancora. Carole King si esibisce accompagnata da un solida band ed il video rende giustizia all'eccellente performance.

Edita dalla prestigiosa Omnivore, questa nuova antologia di Steve Goodman contiene diverse cose interessanti. Prima di tutto abbiamo una splendida versione inedita del capolavoro di Goodman, cioè City of New Orleans, quindi anche You Never Even Call Me By My Name, scritta a quattro mani con John Prine, ma inedita sino ad oggi. Quindi il singolo Go Cubs Go, nella versione registrata per la stazione radio WGN, e diverse registrazioni dal vivo, tra cui A Dying Cub Fan’s Last Request, Vegematic, Banana Republics, Non mancano poi classico come The Dutchman, Souvenirs, e Video Tape.
Cambridge, Massachusetts, Gennaio 1968. Joni è all'inizio della sua carriera e questo piccolo concerto, fatto nel locale Club 47, è una esibizione abbastanza unica. Infatti la cantautrice esegue brani già noti ( Song To A Seagull, Chelsea Morning e Both Sides Now ) ma anche canzoni poco note ( Dawntreader, The Pirate of Penance, Ballerina Valerie, Morning Morgantown etc ).
