Thelonious Monk ed il suo quartetto si sono esibiti nella scuola locale, di fronte ad un pubblico entusiasta. Era il 1968, Martin Luther King e Robert Kennedy erano stati assassinati e l'atmosfera era calda.Eppure il concerto è stato trionfale, una esibizione breve ma di straordinario impatto sonoro. Monk e il suo gruppo hanno suonato in modo splendido e la performance è stata di quelle da ricordare, sotto tutti i punti di vista.Dopo 50 anni il concerto viene finalmente pubblicato dalla Impulse, la grande etichetta jazz legata, da sempre, a John Coltrane. La terza parte parte è un concerto inedito, registrato a Tokyo nel 1985, dove Keith improvvisa su una sua composzione. Nelle due partiture contemporanee Jarrett è accompagnato da due orchestre diverse.

Assieme all'orchestra diretta da Marsalis si esibiscono diversi pianisti: dal prodigioso Joey Alexander ( 13 anni) a Dick Hyman ( 89 anni ) quindi Myra Melford, Dan Nimmer, Helen Sung e Isaiah J. Thompson. Splendido.
